Reimagines how people use Bitcoin by embedding a non-custodial wallet directly inside Telegram. How to make Bitcoin as intuitive and social as messaging — no separate apps, no complex onboarding, just instant transactions within conversations. Our team turned that concept into a fully functional Telegram MiniApp, powered by the Bitcoin and Lightning Networks. Brio enables users to send, receive, and interact with Bitcoin in seconds, all within Telegram’s familiar interface. Brio proves that the future of Bitcoin adoption is about integrating Bitcoin into the platforms people already use.

How can we make Bitcoin easy to use, social, and accessible to everyday users without compromising security?

In 2025, a client approached us with a clear vision that became the foundation of the project Brio:

What if users could send and receive Bitcoin directly inside Telegram — no separate wallet app, no seed phrase, no onboarding friction?

Their vision aligned perfectly with our mission—simplifying Bitcoin adoption through seamless, real-world integrations.

Creating a social-native Bitcoin experience that would make self-custody and payments as easy as messaging a friend.
They wanted to validate whether this could be done securely, at scale, and without custodial compromises.
So the goal was to make Bitcoin feel natural, social, and instantly usable.

We transform that concept into a working product—a Telegram MiniApp wallet built entirely around Bitcoin and Lightning Network technology.

Framing the challenge

Bitcoin adoption still struggles with user experience issues:

  • Onboarding complexity and confusing private key management

  • Isolated wallet apps detached from users’ daily behavior.

  • UX trade-offs between simplicity and true self-custody.

Project Brio aimed to eliminate these barriers by embedding Bitcoin directly inside a platform where people already gather and interact informally.

The challenge: merge Bitcoin’s open infrastructure with Telegram’s social UX — without introducing trust or security trade-offs.

Design the solution

Our team designed and developed Brio, a Telegram MiniApp Bitcoin wallet that turns everyday chat interactions into Bitcoin transactions.

Core features:

  • Telegram-Native UX using Telegram’s MiniApp framework.

  • Non-Custodial Architecture with keys generated and encrypted client-side; no central control.

  • Instant micropayments via Lightning Network integration.

  • Social Interactions through direct P2P to encourage engagement.

The user experience was the key aspect of this project by following those principles:

  • Zero-Friction Onboarding: Users can send and receive Bitcoin without KYC, app installs, or technical setup.

  • Instant Feedback: Real-time transaction updates and confirmations

  • Familiar Flow: Payments happen in chat, within an interface users already trust and understand.

Everything happens within Telegram, with zero friction — users can send Bitcoin in seconds, no downloads required.

Analyzing the results

The pilot launch proved the concept’s strength:

  • Users onboarded and sent Bitcoin in under 30 seconds.

  • Demonstrated that social platforms can host non-custodial Bitcoin wallets effectively.

  • Seamless Telegram-native experience built fully on Bitcoin and Lightning.

Brio proved that Bitcoin adoption grows faster when embedded into existing social behavior, rather than demanding new habits. It is a strategic proof showing that financial innovation and user simplicity can coexist.

Key Insights:

  1. Social context drives adoption.

People engage more when Bitcoin is integrated into where they already communicate.
Integrating payments where users already interact accelerates adoption.

  2. Self-custody can be simple.

Security can remain invisible — handled by design, not by user burden.
While non-custodial design is essential, users care most about simplicity and speed. We proved both can coexist.

  3. Telegram MiniApps are ready for serious applications

The ecosystem can support fast, reliable, secure, scalable applications.

Despite being a relatively new ecosystem, Telegram’s platform supports complex, real-time financial applications securely and efficiently.

What's next

Building on Brio’s foundation, we’re extending the model to include other social applications built on top:

  • Voting app

  • P2P marketplace to buy or sell bitcoin without KYC

  • Informal savings and investment club (Stokvel)

  • and beyond…

Project Brio demonstrates that Bitcoin can be social, accessible, and self-sovereign — all within the apps people already use.

By embedding a wallet directly inside Telegram, we transformed casual messaging into real, trust-minimized financial interaction.

Bitcoin can be used as foundation to build disruptive applications.
It needs better access.
This project proves that the best way to grow adoption is to meet users where they already are.
